Shabbat – Friday PM

FRIDAY EVENING SHABBAT OBSERVANCE

Variety is the Spice of Our Friday Evenings: You’ll need to check the newsletter calendar or our website or join our Facebook group to see what’s new! We may be at the synagogue, we may be dining out, we may be at someone’s home. Here’s what’s currently on the agenda for Friday evenings – be sure to look for more information and additional programming as the year progresses.

Jewish Community Shabbat Under the Stars Potluck Picnic Dinner and Service

Friday September 12, 2014 at Camp Avoda in Middleboro, 6:00 PM dinner and 7:00 PM service

Open to the entire Jewish community at no charge. Invite/bring folks with you! Everyone brings their own dinner and drinks along with a dessert to share. This is a kosher-style meal, which means: no pork products, no shellfish and each family chooses to bring for themselves either a dairy meal or a meat meal so there is no mixing of meat/milk within their menu.

Your dessert to share should be clearly labeled as “pareve” (neither meat nor dairy) or “milk/dairy”. While your own Jewish dietary practice may not be this observant – or it may be more observant—such a strategy should make the most people the most comfortable in a Jewish setting with mixed practices.

We’ll adjourn to the outdoor chapel for a brief Friday evening service. Bug spray is a must. Please be prepared! Please invite anyone who needs a kick-start of a Jewish connection. We’re a great community and we hope more Jewish families of all types will learn more about how being a part of our community will be an enriching experience for them. Good fun all around!!
